Our story

The island that came back

Pudut Island, off Tanjung Benoa, once covered more than 10 hectares. Erosion and dredging have reduced it to about one hectare. The local community Balaram Mangrove Heroes, led by I Nyoman Ridet Artikanaya, started replanting the mangrove to help the island grow again.

The foundation Baruna Balarama Fantasi was legally established in 2025 to carry this work further. Together with UPTD Tahura Ngurah Rai, local government, universities, schools, hotels and companies, we restore the coastal green belt, protect turtle nests and help young people care for their coast.

Volunteers planting mangrove seedlings in the mud at low tide

We have no permanent funding partner. Every donation counts.

Food and care for the turtles alone cost us around IDR 5 million (about US$300) every month. Adoptions and donations keep the patrols, the hatchery and the mangrove nursery going.
